WHAT HAPPENED?

Willian has reached an agreement with Gremio after leaving Fulham earlier this year. The Brazilian has completed his medical tests and will put pen to paper on his contract after which his signing will be formally announced. His arrival comes just four months after his latest move to the Premier League, when he had returned to Fulham. He left the club in May and had been a free agent since, securing the next step in his career in a little over a week.

The arrival has been viewed as a significant move, with the 37-year-old winger recalled to Fulham in January after his first stint at the club, in 2022-23. He represented clubs such as Chelsea and Arsenal before moving to Corinthians and returns to his native country now after stints at Arsenal and Chelsea.

GREMIO’S SEASON SO FAR

Gremio have struggled for consistency in Brazil’s Serie A this season and currently sit 13th in the standings, with only six wins in 21 games, making Willian’s arrival especially important as they look to stabilize their campaign.
