Wolves Seal Jackson Tchatchoua Signing from Verona

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Cameroonian right-back Jackson Tchatchoua from Hellas Verona for €12 million. Tchatchoua had a strong season in Serie A and will add more options to Wolves’ defense for the new Premier League season. This signing comes as part of Wolves’ strategy to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Tchatchoua, 23, joined Wolves from Verona on Monday for €12 million. He has agreed to personal terms with Wolves and will soon join his new teammates. Last season, he played 31 matches for Verona, providing one assist. Other teams, including Nottingham Forest, Galatasaray, and Marseille, were interested in Tchatchoua, but Wolves’ offer was the most compelling. Tchatchoua joined Verona in 2023 from Charleroi before making his move permanent for €3 million.

WHY THIS SIGNING MATTERS FOR WOLVES

Tchatchoua will bring speed and versatility to Wolves’ defense, which had trouble last season in the Premier League. Wolves finished 16th and missed out on European football after inconsistent performances. Improving the defense was a priority, and Tchatchoua’s versatility will give the manager more options for tactics. He also demonstrated his ability to contribute to the attack during his time in Serie A. At 23, he fits Wolves’ strategy of signing young players with potential.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR WOLVES AND VERONA?

Tchatchoua is set to join Wolves ahead of the second league match against Bournemouth, with both teams having lost their league openers: Wolves lost 4-0 at home to Manchester City, and Bournemouth lost 4-2 at Anfield to reigning champions Liverpool. Meanwhile, Verona starts their Serie A campaign against Udinese. Both teams narrowly avoided relegation last season and must find a replacement for Tchatchoua to improve their league position moving forward.
