Yann Karamoh Completes Free Transfer To FC Porto

Yann Karamoh has arrived in Portugal to join FC Porto. He will sign a contract with no transfer fee after completing his medical exams.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Karamoh, 27, is a French winger who left Torino earlier this summer, making him available to other teams. After weeks of speculation, Porto acquired his signature. He is expected to sign a one-year contract with the option to extend for up to two more years. Fans want to see him in action, and sources say he will be introduced immediately into the team after he completes his medical and signs the contract.

WHY PORTO NEEDS KARAMOH

Porto are having a great start to the season with five wins from five matches in the Primeira Liga this season. They are already two points ahead of Benfica and three ahead of Sporting, whom they beat already this season. Last summer, Porto witnessed a player exodus as several starters were sold with few replacements. Karamoh’s arrival will provide squad depth to address Porto’s attack. Porto aims to improve upon their third-place finish last season, and Karamoh’s pace and trickery on the ball can help increase their goal-scoring chances and take the pressure off their mostly reliable defense.

WHAT NEXT?

According to several reports, the Frenchman is expected to sign his contract later today and participate in first team training immediately. Porto’s next league game is against Rio Ave this friday, which is most likely to be Karamoh’s debut match for Porto before playing RB Salzburg for the Europa League opener. Given that the team has scored only one goal in five domestic games thus far, all eyes will be on the former Serie A star to see if the winger can make an immediate impact.
